City of Edmonton Ring Road

The construction of the Anthony Henday Drive has produced some unintended outcomes for the City of Edmonton. The ring road has made surrounding municipalities more accessible such as:
• Sherwood Park and St. Albert (within a couple of minutes)
• Acheson, Nisku and Leduc are within 5 to 15 minutes or less away from the city
• The international airport is less than 15 minutes away
With this in mind, it is not surprising that big corporations such as Amazon choose to locate directly on the outskirts of Edmonton city limits. These companies are saving a substantial amount of money in property taxes yet still have close proximity to Edmonton by way of Anthony Henday Drive.
