Alberta Construction Season

Living in Alberta we all know there are only two seasons, Winter and construction season! This will give you an idea on how much the City of Edmonton spends on road repairs.
Roads in poor condition obviously cost more to fix than roads that are in mint condition. There are also some preventative treatments to slow down the natural degradation of the road. Often the budget is dedicated to preserving roads in good condition as part of a longer-term strategy.
-Cracking sealing (preservation method) $1.20/m2
-Microsurfacing (preservation method) $4.50/m2
-Resurfacing roads in fair condition $23.33/m2
-Rehabilitation road in fair condition $79.70/m2
-Pothole repairs $78.22/m2
-Reconstruction $209.00/m2
