Cost of Asphalt versus Gravel Roads

The capital required to build an asphalt road is significantly higher than a gravel road. However, asphalt roads have a longer service life than gravel. There are a variety of factors that will impact the cost of either option such as transportation, thickness of the gravel/asphalt, previous (quality or substandard) work completed and the location of the road.
